A reminder of what really matters
My first trip to Cambodia in 2016 left an impact and lead to my return in September 2018 with a group of 11 others.
During our placement the day varied between educational lessons, ranging from vocabulary and grammar classes to storytelling and recreational activities including music, handmade crafts, yoga and treasure hunt games.
Sparing our time to give something back to the community was our aim as a group but in reality, we were the receivers. The joyful happy smiles and warm hearts of each of the kids is the big reward, reminding us how the simple things in life matter and teaching us that even a simple word or hug can make a difference. Indeed, this experience was a reminder of what really matters in life and helped us grow further as humans.

Sharing the love
We are Darren and Claire. We started sponsoring a few months after our very own trip to Cambodia around two and a half years ago. Having seen first hand the difference Reaching Cultures is doing in these children’s lives, we saw it as an opportunity to be part of the continuous support the organization is offering the children throughout the year and chose to sponsor 2 kids. Through the updates we can see the impact this programme is having on the children and we are always looking forward to hear about the progress they are both doing.

First Volunteering Experience
I was completely new to volunteering and first-time experience with children. Reaching Cultures guided us perfectly to what we shall do, be doing and answered all our raised doubts and questions, the rest comes automatically through self-abilities ?. From first day of our two weeks I felt that a bond of friendship was created and was already looking forward for every day thus that two weeks flew by. Lesson learnt : children need your time and love.

Already planning to return
The fifteen days I spent in Cambodia feel like a beautiful dream. Spending time with such adorable children who practically have nothing compared to us made such an impact on my life. I feel so privileged to have had such an experience. I thank Denise and Silvan for their hard work and guidance. This will surely not be a one time for me!

I spent 2 weeks in a Residential Centre in Cambodia and I enjoyed it very much. The kids were very sweet and affectionate, and very interested in all the activities we prepared for them. They have a beautiful energy despite their realities and give so much love. You give your time but you receive so much in return. Everyday was different, fun, enjoyable and hugely rewarding. I couldn't imagine a better volunteer experience. Thank you Denise & Silvan for your hard work, dedication and for giving us this wonderful opportunity

Joy and Peace when Volunteering
The voluntary placement was a dream come true for me. I cherish every moment and I still think about them every single day. The world around us seemed to stop, as the joy and peacefulness we felt when we were with them is indescribable. I think it should be a once in a lifetime experience for everyone as you will receive so much more than you will give. Thank you Reaching Cultures so much, for taking care of us here as well as in Cambodia and to the big family in Cambodia who made us feel home from the very first day.

Best NGO choice for volunteering
Reaching Cultures made this opportunity worthwhile and I personally felt safe knowing that they were constantly messaging us and managing our queries and even the people caring for the children truly welcomed us and helped us when needed. Reaching Cultures guided us from Day 1, making us feel so looking forward for our day to go meet the kids. My experience was truly worthwhile. I will definitely be back.

This is my fourth year as a godparent with Reaching Cambodia. I chose to sponsor to provide benefits for the children such as education, healthcare and nutrition and help them build a better future. I believe in this program as Reaching Cambodia always keeps me updated of how the child is doing physically and also re education and I must say that I noticed a great improvement.
