Reaching Myanmar

Placements in Myanmar are available throughout March – May.  The minimum age requirement is 18 years during the time of travel.

This placement requires long travel by air and land prior to arrival in your working placement.  Myanmar’s lack of infrastructure makes travel a challenge .  Volunteers will be guided how such travel should take place.

Myanmar Placement Information

Daily Schedule:                 08:30 – 16:00

                                                Weekend free

Information about daily routine

The centre is located in Kalaw, a small hill town famous for outstanding trekking experiences.   Volunteers work in a Christian home which resides 90 children.  They need help in learning English and the centre not having many helpers needs people to aid in the day to day running especially during the children’s holidays from school.

Older children who care for the younger ones will be aiding volunteers with the chores.

Volunteer Lodging

The volunteers stay in a nearby small family run hotel located around 15 minutes by walk away from the centre.  The owners support the home to the best of their abilities and will be supporting volunteers with any needs they may have during their time in Kalaw.

The services provided by the home and hotel:

  • Volunteers are provided with all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Lodging at the hotel in Kalaw
  • Volunteer Coordinators in Malta available for any difficulties encountered throughout your placement via Skype, Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber etc.

The volunteers’ lodging is very clean, with access to Wi-Fi and en-suite rooms.  Volunteers inform Reaching Cultures of their desired sleeping arrangements who shall then make plans accordingly.

Since, you will not be cooking your own food, it is important that you inform us of any allergies.
